2-Gang HDMI & VGA HDBaseT Wall Plate Transmitter with Scaler, RS-232 & PoH
KanexPro WP-HDBASETX 2-gang HDMI & VGA HDBaseT wall plate transmitter — 4K HDMI or VGA up to 230ft, built-in VGA scaler, auto-switching, RS-232, PoH…
The KanexPro WP-HDBASETX is a 2-gang Decora-style HDBaseT wall plate transmitter for mixed HDMI and legacy VGA environments. Accepting one HDMI 1.4 and one VGA + 3.5mm audio input, it automatically selects the active source and extends the signal up to 230 feet (70 meters) over a single shielded CAT6 cable to a compatible HDBaseT receiver (sold separately). A built-in VGA scaler automatically matches the VGA input to the display's native resolution — supporting outputs up to 1920×1080 — eliminating resolution mismatch issues common in mixed-source rooms. Purpose-built for classrooms, lecture halls, and boardrooms where both modern HDMI laptops and legacy VGA workstations must connect to the same display system, the WP-HDBASETX supports Power over HDBaseT (PoH) so the transmitter can be powered remotely from the receiver — removing the need for local AC at the wall plate. RS-232 control enables integration with third-party room control systems and supports full bidirectional command pass-through to the display. A locking HDMI connector prevents accidental disconnection in high-traffic installations. Matte anodized aluminum dual-gang form factor. FCC Class A certified.

Questions
- What inputs does the wall plate take?
- One HDMI on a 19-pin Type A female, one VGA on an HD-15 female, and analog stereo on a 3.5mm mini-jack for the VGA source.
- What resolutions does it send, and how far?
- Up to 4Kx2K over HDMI and up to 1920x1200@60Hz over VGA, with the scaler putting out up to 1920x1080. 1080p reaches 230ft/70m and 4Kx2K 130ft/40m, at 10.2Gbps.
- Can it be controlled serially?
- Yes, RS-232 on a 3-pin terminal block at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.
- Does the VGA input get scaled to match the HDMI path?
- Yes, the built-in scaler outputs up to 1920x1080 so both sources reach the display in a common format.
- Does the transmitter need a local power supply?
- Not necessarily. PoH powers the transmitter from the receiver over HDBaseT. A 100-240V AC to 12VDC 2A supply is available, and there is a 12V power OUT on a 2-pin terminal block. Maximum consumption is 9.6W.
- What is in the box?
- The 4K wall plate HDBaseT transmitter, four mounting screws, a 2-pin terminal block, a 4-pin terminal block and a top cover. It is a Decora-style 2-gang plate in matte anodized aluminium.
- The VGA source has no sound at the display.
- VGA carries no audio. Connect the source's analog stereo to the 3.5mm mini-jack on the plate; only HDMI carries embedded digital audio.
- The image is unstable on a long run.
- 1080p is rated to 70m and 4Kx2K to 40m over HDBaseT. Confirm the run length before looking at the source.
- Is it HDBaseT Alliance certified?
- Yes, and it supports the key HDMI 1.4 features including EDID and HDCP.
- What is the audio performance on the analog path?
- Greater than 85dB SNR across 20Hz to 20kHz, with 75 ohm impedance.
