48Gbps 8K 2-In 4-Out HDMI Switching Splitter with Downscaling & Audio De-embedding
KanexPro SP-HDMI2X4-8K selects 1 of 2 HDMI 2.1 sources and sends it to 4 displays at 8K60, with per-output downscaling, HDR to SDR, balanced audio…
Select either of two HDMI 2.1 sources and send it to four displays at up to 8K@60Hz, with downscaling for the screens that need it and audio de-embedding on every output. The KanexPro SP-HDMI2X4-8K is a 48Gbps 2-input, 4-output HDMI switching splitter: a 2×1 switcher and a 1×4 splitter in one box, eliminating the need for a separate switcher, splitter, downscaler, or audio extractor in the rack. All four outputs show the selected source at the same time; to send a different source to each display, use a true matrix switcher. Compliant with HDMI 2.1 and HDCP 2.3, the switching splitter supports 8K@60Hz 4:2:0 12-bit, 8K@30Hz 4:4:4 12-bit, and 4K@120Hz 4:4:4 12-bit with HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, and ALLM/VRR pass-through. Outputs that feed lower-resolution displays can be downscaled from 8K to 4K or 2K, and HDR can be converted to SDR for non-HDR screens. The downscaled outputs share one scaler, and Dolby Vision passes through only: it is not converted to SDR or HDR10. Scaling changes resolution, not frame rate. Audio de-embedding delivers digital optical (up to 5.1CH) and balanced/unbalanced analog stereo with adjustable gain. A built-in HDMI signal generator aids diagnostics. Control via front panel, IR remote, RS-232, or API commands.
- Selects 1 of 2 HDMI 2.1 sources and sends it to all 4 displays at once, at up to 8K@60Hz 4:2:0 12-bit with 48Gbps bandwidth — auto or manual input switching
- HDCP 2.3 compliant with HDMI 2.1 — supports protected content across all input and output channels
- HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG pass-through with ALLM and VRR for low-latency gaming and cinematic playback
- 8K to 4K/2K downscaling for the outputs that need it, from one shared scaler — feed mixed-resolution displays from a single source (resolution only, no frame-rate conversion)
- HDR to SDR conversion for non-HDR displays (Dolby Vision passes through only and is not converted)
- Audio de-embedding via digital optical (up to 5.1CH Dolby/DTS) and balanced/unbalanced analog stereo (L/R) with adjustable gain control
- Built-in HDMI signal generator with 15 resolutions and 13 test patterns for on-site diagnostics and cable verification
- Control via front panel buttons, IR remote, RS-232, and API commands — advanced EDID management with 16 presets, 2 user-defined, and pass-through mode

Questions
- Can I turn off or mute one HDMI output while the other outputs keep showing the source?
- No. The SP-HDMI2X4-8K selects one of its two inputs and sends it to all four outputs at the same time. No single output can be disabled or muted, whether from the front panel, IR remote or RS-232/API. To route sources to outputs independently, use an HDMI matrix switcher.
- Can the SP-HDMI2X4-8K send a source to one output only, or turn off a single output?
- No. The SP-HDMI2X4-8K is a switching splitter: it selects one of its two inputs and sends that signal to all four outputs at once. No output can be muted or turned off on its own from the front panel, IR remote or RS-232/API. For per-output routing, use a matrix switcher.
- How do I access RS-232 or API control?
- Connect the RS-232 port (3-pin 3.5mm Phoenix) or the SERVICE USB Type-C port to a PC and open a serial terminal to send API commands for input selection, EDID, and audio control.
- Can the SP-HDMI2X4-8K pass 4K60 Dolby Vision on one output and tone-mapped 1080p SDR on another from one source?
- No. The SP-HDMI2X4-8K cannot do this with one source, in either TV-led (tunneled) or player-led (LLDV) Dolby Vision. EDID is set per input, not per output, so changing the EDID profile affects all four outputs from that input.
- No video appears on one or more displays. What should I check?
- Confirm HDMI Ultra High Speed cables are used and do not exceed 3m for 8K/4K120 signals. Try setting the EDID DIP switch to match the display's native resolution, and if displays have mixed resolutions, use set output x downscale 2 to force 1080p on the affected outputs.
- Can each output be scaled to a different format at the full 48Gbps?
- No. The splitter passes 48Gbps in and out, but the downscaled outputs share one scaler, so outputs scaled independently at the full 48Gbps are not supported.
- What is included in the box?
- The package includes the 48Gbps 2-in 4-out HDMI switching splitter, a 12V/1A multinational locking power supply, an IR remote, a 1.5m IR wideband receiver, a 3-pin 3.5mm Phoenix connector, a 5-pin 3.5mm Phoenix connector, two mounting ears, four KM3x6 machine screws, and a user manual.
- How do I force a specific output to downscale for a legacy display?
- Send the API command set output x downscale 2 to force that output to 1080p; downscale mode 2 is used when the connected display cannot accept the full 8K/4K signal.
- How do I trigger the built-in signal generator for cable and display verification?
- Send the API command set generator x y where x is the resolution code (for example 01 = 8K30, 09 = 4K60, 13 = 1080p60) and y is the pattern code (for example 01 = Color bar, 07 = White, 13 = Black). Use get generator to view the current setting.
- What are the physical dimensions and weight for rack or shelf placement?
- The unit measures 8.66 in (W) x 4.33 in (D) x 0.85 in (H) (220mm x 110mm x 21.5mm) and weighs 1.37 lbs (620g), with included mounting ears for rack or surface installation.
