The KanexPro MMX-8X8CAT-150M is an 18Gbps 8×8 HDMI matrix switcher with long-range HDBaseT extension up to 492ft (150m) per output, purpose-built for large-venue and enterprise AV installations requiring 4K60 distribution across entire floors, wings, or buildings from a single equipment room. Eight HDMI 2.0b sources are routed simultaneously to up to sixteen displays — eight via direct HDMI and eight via HDBaseT to the included PoC-powered receivers — over a single CAT5e/6/7 cable per run. 24V Power over Cable eliminates the need for local power at each remote receiver. For 1080p signals the maximum extension reaches 492ft (150m); 4K60 4:4:4 is supported to 394ft (120m). Unlike the 70m model, the MMX-8X8CAT-150M includes coaxial audio de-embedding (3.5mm stereo mini-jack) and balanced analog audio outputs (5-pin Phoenix connector) on every HDBaseT port — enabling direct connection to amplifiers, DSPs, or audio distribution systems without a separate extractor. - What is the maximum CAT extension distance for 4K60 video?
- 4K60 (4:4:4) is supported up to 394ft / 120m via CAT5e/6/7. For 1080p signals the maximum distance extends to 492ft / 150m. For 70m 4K60 at lower cost, see the MMX-8X8CAT-70M.
- Does this unit include audio de-embedding?
- Yes. The MMX-8X8CAT-150M includes both coaxial (3.5mm) and balanced analog (5-pin Phoenix) audio de-embedding outputs for each of the 8 HDBaseT ports. Coax supports PCM 2.0, Dolby Digital/Plus, DTS 5.1; analog supports PCM 2.0CH stereo.
- Do the HDBaseT receivers require a separate power supply?
- No. 24V Power over CAT (PoC) is provided on all HDBaseT ports. The included receivers are powered through the CAT cable — no external power supply is needed at remote receiver locations.
- What rack space does this matrix require?
- The MMX-8X8CAT-150M occupies 2U of rack space (88.6mm H). The smaller MMX-8X8CAT-70M is a 1U unit. Ensure adequate depth (374mm) in your rack for the 150M unit.
- How do I access the Web GUI?
- Connect the TCP/IP RJ45 port to your network. The default IP is 192.168.1.100. Open a browser and navigate to that address. Default login: Admin / admin. Change credentials after first login.
- No video at a remote receiver — what should I check?
- Confirm CAT5e/6/7 cable with direct T568B wiring (no crossover), verify PoC LED on the receiver is lit, check cable does not exceed 120m for 4K60 or 150m for 1080p, and re-seat RJ45 connectors. Use the Web GUI to verify routing and EDID settings.
