The KanexPro CR-3XCONTROL is a compact, IP-based AV control system that consolidates IR, RS-232/422/485, relay, and TCP/IP device control into a single PoE-powered unit. Sixteen user-defined macros — 8 directly linked to external trigger inputs and all 16 accessible via WebGUI or Telnet — can send commands across any combination of its 4 IR blaster outputs, 4 relay outputs, 1 RS-232/422/485 COM port, or the network. An integrated IR learning function allows the unit to capture and store IR codes from virtually any remote, eliminating the need for a separate IR database. Powered over Ethernet (PoE) from any standard 802.3af switch, the CR-3XCONTROL requires no AC outlet at the installation point. The 8 trigger inputs — compatible with door switches, motion detectors, window alarms, and other contact-closure devices — activate their corresponding macros instantly on signal, enabling fully automated room control without user interaction. Programming is handled through the built-in WebGUI from any browser on the same network. Firmware updates are performed in the field via USB with no tools required.

Questions
- Does the CR-3XCONTROL require an internet connection?
- No. All control operates over the local LAN. An active Ethernet connection to a switch or router is required to reach other IP devices on the same network, but no internet or cloud service is used.
- How does IR learning work?
- Connect the included IR Learner cable to the IR IN port. In the WebGUI Command Settings, click IR Learn and point your IR remote at the learner within 5 seconds. The captured IR code string is stored and can be assigned to any macro.
- Can it control RS-232 devices directly?
- Yes. The COM port supports RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 at baud rates up to 115200bps. Connect your serial device to the 5-pin terminal block and configure the port parameters in the WebGUI.
- What devices can the trigger inputs connect to?
- Any device with contact-closure or switch output providing minimum 5V DC: door switches, motion detectors, window alarms, keypad triggers, PIR sensors, and similar automation devices.
- Is PoE required?
- No. The included 5V/2.6A DC adapter powers the unit fully without a PoE switch. PoE (802.3af) is optional and eliminates the need for a local AC outlet.
- How do I update the firmware?
- Connect a USB drive with the firmware file to the SERVICE port on the rear panel. The unit will detect and apply the update automatically. No tools or software required.
- No response from IR devices after programming?
- Verify the IR blaster cable is seated firmly in the correct IR OUT port and positioned within line-of-sight of the device IR receiver. Confirm the captured IR code string is correct by testing via WebGUI Command Settings before assigning to a macro.
- Can multiple macros run simultaneously?
- Macros run sequentially per trigger. Use the MACRO STOP command via Telnet or WebGUI to interrupt a running macro before executing another.
